History of 114 N State Street

Uptown Eye Care's building was recently featured on the 2016 Tapestry of a Town tour, highlighting historic homes, schools, churches and other buildings in the Uptown Westerville district. 

114 N State Street was built in 1883 in a T-shaped Italianate architecture.  It is a 2400 square foot home, that was converted to a medical office space.  The first floor houses our reception area, optical boutique and examination rooms.  Upstairs, we have a lab area, contact lens storage, chart storage, a kitchen and bathroom.  

The building still includes many original features including hardwood floors, light fixtures, original windows, kitchen cabinets, fireplaces, and wood moldings.  In the 1920s an addition was made to the rear of the property, adding extra square footage to both floors. 

There are exposed brick walls in several locations, allowing the true vintage beauty to shine through.
